System setup

Having your system setup correctly in the first place can save no end of troubles down the line. Unfortunately clichés are usually true - and prevention is almost always better than cure.

Being pushed out the door of a megastore with a pile of cardboard cartons and techno-jargon filled promises from underpaid inexperienced salespeople inevitably ends in disaster.

Whenever we sell new systems it is with the recommendation that we perform the initial hardware and software setup. Preferably physically installing the system in your own environment to ensure from day one everything is working ... where you need it.

Operating system and application updates

Operating systems (such as Windows, Linux and Mac OS) need to be properly installed and configured then promptly updated with all the new changes that continually being made to fix bugs, security loopholes, and compatibility issues. Similarly most software applications have new releases and updates already superseding the version purchased in the shop.

Backups

Things will go wrong one day, some 5% of new hard disks fail in the first few months. Your backup solution needs to be implemented from the first day.
